Welcome to the official website of the Crown of Antarctica
On July 4, 1950, long before international treaties sought to freeze the fate of Antarctica, a solemn claim was made by LeRoy Kincaid — a visionary man who looked upon the vast, ungoverned southern continent not with conquest in his heart, but stewardship in his soul. Though unannounced to the world, the claim was real — a declaration made in peace, for the protection of the last untouched wilderness on Earth. Later in 1950, LeRoy sent a letter to Senator Wayne Morse informing him of the claim. He never heard back.
Three decades later, in 1981, amid growing geopolitical tensions and accelerating environmental concern, LeRoy Kincaid reaffirmed his sovereign claim. This reaffirmation, while again private, stood as a moral bulwark against the rising tide of exploitation and indifference. He did not act for wealth or power, but to preserve a birthright of silence, snow, and sky.
In August 1997, LeRoy passed the claim to his son-in-law, Richard Edward Lake, with the solemn charge of guardianship. Dormant but never dead. Its flame was kept alive not through recognition or bureaucracy, but through lineage, loyalty, and quiet conviction.
That flame rose anew in August 2000 when Richard named part of the continent the "Kingdom of Zamora." Though, his focused shifted for a while to focus on his family.
On 29 June 2025, the Crown awoke. His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Richard I, formally proclaimed the Crown of Antarctica, assuming the sacred mantle of Emperor of Antarctica. With this act, the entire continent — all land, ice, and sky south of the 60th parallel — was declared the indivisible territory of the Crown, under the supreme authority of the White Throne.
This declaration was not a beginning, but a culmination — the flowering of a 75-year lineage of moral sovereignty and dynastic inheritance. Through the enactment of an Imperial Constitution, the recognition of hereditary succession, and a binding commitment to peace, dignity, and environmental sanctity, the Crown of Antarctica emerged — not as a passing ideal, but as a sovereign state in environmental-exile.
The imperial capital, Byrd City, was named by decree. And today, the Crown stands as the sole dynastic and spiritual authority over the Antarctic continent. And one day, Byrd City will rise from the melted ice.
On July 12, 2025, on the two week anniversary of his reign, Emperor Richard I abdicated due to advancing dementia and other health issues.
